1. How do the lockets open?
Each Journey Locket has a screw mechanism on the top portion (bale) of the locket. Simply hold the silver ball that sits directly on top of the square/circle and then rotate the locket while holding the screw ball in place. The silver ball/piece will unscrew up the bale of the locket allowing the locket to fold open at the bottom hinge. Place your 2 inserts in facing outward, close the locket and screw the silver ball back to the downward position.


2. Does the locket come with any inserts?
Yes all of our Journey Lockets come with 6 graphic pattern inserts. Many of the designs are double sided. These can be placed in the locket to coordinate with outfits, or as an alternative to photos or other custom inserts in your locket. Many people wear a photo on one side and a graphic pattern on the opposite side.


3. How do I get my photos that small?
You actually don't have to worry about that! We provide a personalization service for each locket purchased that allows you to choose 2 photographs for your locket and we make them into Photo Inserts for your locket.

You can either upload the photos with your purchase online or if you purchase at a retail location or at a show, you will receive the Personalization Gift Card. If you have a gift card simply go online, upload them to our website, and use your gift card code for free personalization! You must know the size and shape of your Journey Locket to order your Photo Inserts.

4. How do I know what photos will look best?
Our suggestion when you are choosing photos, is to pick photos with simple backgrounds. (Solid light or solid dark usually work best.) We crop in on the faces as much as possible to create the best insert possible.

You also need to be aware of the final shape that your photo will be in. If you purchase a square locket, the insert end result will be a square. If you purchase a round locket, the inserts will be a circle. Look at the composition of your photo. The photos start out rectangular. Imagine putting a square or circle around the image you want in your locket. If all of the people do not fit well in that square it may not be the best photo to choose. See examples below.

Round lockets need photos that are taken at a farther distance. Photos that are already close in leave no room to crop the photo into the round shape. There should be background in the photo above the subjects head(s), unless you would like for there to be blank white space (photo paper).

We can use photos with multiple people in them. You just need to be aware of how close the peoples faces are together.

We can use professional photography, if you have the photographers permission to do this. Most will gladly allow this, so all you have to do is ask!


5. Can I get monograms or my initials to put into my Journey Locket?
Yes! We love creating the custom monogram inserts. You can order them under Custom Inserts in our Online Boutique!


6. How do I know what size/length to buy?
The easiest way to determine what length is best is to measure an existing necklace or bracelet you have. Our bracelet sizes and necklace lengths are actually the length of the chain with the toggle. The locket adds 2 inches to the drop on the necklace.


7. Can I order this as a gift?
Yes! We are happy to ship your order directly to the gift recipient! When you place the order, just fill in the shipping info for the person you want to send it to. We do not include payment or price info on our Packing Slips, so they will not see any prices! We can also include a small gift note in the package that says who it is from with a personal greeting. Just send us a message if you want us to include this in your order at no additional charge!

Not sure what to buy? You can still give Journey Lockets as a gift by ordering our online Gift Certificate. Click the Gift Certificate link at the top of the page in our Online Boutique. You can place the order for your gift certificate there. The information to redeem it will be sent directly to the recipients email address. Then they can then shop for themselves in our Online Boutique!


8. How do you ship and how long does it take?

We ship 2 different way depending what you order in our Online Boutique, shopjourneylockets.com. Please read the shipping details below.

1-Jewelry Orders:
[How We Ship] - All jewelry orders are shipped UPS Ground unless other prior arrangements have been made. Faster shipping can be quoted if needed. ***We cannot ship jewelry orders to P.O. Boxes. UPS cannot deliver to P.O. Boxes. Please provide a valid street address where your order can be delivered.*** The charge for UPS Ground shipping is a FLAT RATE of $12. Once your order has shipped, you will be emailed a tracking number. You can check the status of your order by clicking the link provided.

[Shipping Timeline] - Most orders are shipped within 1-4 business days of placing the order. If we are away at a show, orders will be shipped as soon as we return. You can see our show schedule here. If you are placing an order for a time sensitive gift or special occasion, we encourage you to let us know this in order comments, or send us an order message through your account. We want to make sure your order arrives in time for the big day.

2- Insert Orders:
Insert (only) orders are mailed using the United States Postal Service. The address given for "shipping" should be your mailing address. You will receive an email stating that your order has "shipped" via USPS, but there will be no tracking number. The inserts should arrive in your mailbox within a few days. If you order inserts along with a jewelry piece, your inserts will ship within the UPS package.


9. Can I get updated photo inserts?
Yes! You can order additional photo inserts any time you like and as often as you like. We know babies grow fast! You can order these under Custom Inserts in Our Online Boutique!

11. What is your return policy?
We do allow you to return or exchange any item you purchase online if you are not completely satisfied. If you need to return or exchange an item you must submit a Return Request through our website.

Here's how:

2-Click on "Completed Orders"
3-Click on "Return Item(s)"
4-Fill out the form indicating the reason for the request.
5-Click "Submit Return Request"
6-We will process the return request and contact you if we need more information. You will receive an email with details about the return within 2-3 days.


12. How do you care for the Journey Lockets Jewelry?
All of our Sterling Silver Jewelry can be cleaned with a sterling polishing cloth or liquid cleaner. If you use a liquid silver cleaner, you can place the locket into the liquid. It will not damage the glass in the locket. We suggest cleaning your jewelry after each time it is worn to prevent excessive tarnish & build up from makeup, lotions, and perfumes. For storage, Sterling Silver pieces should be stored in small sealed plastic bags to minimize tarnish.


13. How do I keep my inserts from spinning in my round locket?
The best trick is to place a 2-3 more inserts in between the ones facing outward. By adding additional inserts you create a tiny amount of pressure when the locket is closed. This keeps the outward facing inserts in place, pressed up again the glass, and prevents them from moving around losely. Be careful not to pack it so full that it is hard to close.

14. How do I know what size locket I have?
Compare your locket to the photo below to determine what size locket you have. The measurements listed for the lockets refer to the inertior and insert size.
